Difference Engine is a revenue-led marketing agency. We make a difference for our clients by focusing on the engines that drive growth. It’s all about the funnel: delivering effective marketing, rooted in data and insight, that generates revenue.

Our approach blends science and art. The Difference Engine team has many years of experience across digital marketing, communications, insight and innovation, PR, entrepreneurship, business development and data & operations. Since our launch in Bristol, we’ve worked for a range of global brands and small start-ups across many sectors including tech, geospatial and the built environment, energy, financial services, construction and the public and third sectors.

Jane Franklin

Jane Franklin, Co-Founder and Managing Director

…is a client director and co-founder of Difference Engine.

Jane has deep experience incorporating inbound and outbound marketing, from customer insight to strategy development to content delivery. Her experience spans B2B, B2G and B2C marketing, working with enterprise clients ranging from OS and Microsoft to the Greater London Authority and NFU Mutual. And startups across the spectrum, particularly in recent years geotech and proptech brands through our work running the Geovation Accelerator Marketing Academy.

Should anyone ever want to bribe Jane, she has a number of exploitable weaknesses. Focusing on a mixture of rock, comedy, cheese and cider will probably do the trick.

Sarah Green

Sarah Green, Co-Founder and Commercial Director

…is a client director and co-founder. She brings business development, entrepreneurship, digital marketing and strategy to the Difference Engine party.

After starting out in exhibitions and conferences, Sarah moved into digital in 2000, before branching out as an entrepreneur. Since 2003 she has been instrumental in launching six companies and successfully selling two.

Sarah’s into all things tech, especially if there is a community building element to it. She says she loves something tricky to get her mind whirring.

Sarah loves being outside and battling the elements using anything to make her go faster… biking, skiing or running. Anything that will makes her heart race; and when she isn’t gathering friends & family together for an adventure on the wild side, you will find her tinkering in the kitchen having adventures in food (and wine) and then having a well earned sit down.

Sarah Bradbury

Sarah Bradbury, Operations Director

…is a client director and our Operations Director. After studying languages at Cambridge and then living abroad Sarah settled in London. While studying for her MBA she became passionate about all things business strategy and operations.

She has worked as Ops Director for many different companies across a range of industries over the years, managing all things financial, legal, processual, HR, recruitment and systems-related. Her particular area of expertise is fast becoming MarkOps, and how to run the most efficient, effective and lean marketing operation – underpinned by a rigorous and coherent marketing strategy, plan and appropriate mar-tech stack.

Other than Difference Engine – wine, cheese, all things 80s, a busy family and home renovation projects keep Sarah excited and occupied.

Niall O’Malley

Niall O’Malley, Digital Director

Niall has over two decades of marketing experience working both in-house and at international agencies. He develops digital strategies to drive leads through PPC and search-led content. He also leads the agency’s revenue modelling and marketing attribution product development.

For Sony, EDF and Mimecast he focussed on issues management, defining social media strategy and campaigns. Previously, he worked for international PR and digital agencies holding positions up to Board Director and managing key client relationships with brands such as ARM, Diageo, Philips and Ferrero.
